It is crucial that all emergency situations should be handled methodically and professionally

As every situation will be unique, we must use our training as well as common sense

  • At the Whaler we are all to assist with every emergency if certified and capable
  • If you are not capable, you are to keep guests calm and assist with emergency efforts
  • Crowd control
  • Communicate with first responders
  • Ensure clear path for medics/responders
  • Collect information on the injured
    • Name
    • Hotel
    • Room #
    • Cell Phone
    • Travel partner
    • Emergency contact
  • Be aware of your surroundings, if you appear that you are not engaged with emergency efforts, this will have a negative impact on not only yourself but the hotel you represent
  • Always keep your direct manager informed no matter the level of injury/emergency
If you are unable to collect information on the inured, responders are on the scene, and other guests are inquiring, use this verbiage in a calm compassionate manner:

“Responders are on the scene, Security and Medics have been notified, may I take your information and have my manager contact you once the details are made available.”
